Josh Gillam was born and raised in Peterborough Ontario where he was involved in both minor hockey and lacrosse. He played ‘AAA’ minor hockey before being drafted by the OHL, Peterborough Petes in 2006 but opted for NCAA opportunities and played two junior seasons with the Peterborough Jr. A Stars. Throughout these years Josh also pursued lacrosse with the Peterborough Jr. A Lakers and became a Minto Cup Champion in 2006 as well as winning a Canadian Championship when playing field lacrosse for the Oshawa Blue Knights followed by a team Ontario field lacrosse Canadian championship.
Josh’s dedication to athletics was mirrored in his studies, which led him to commit to a full scholarship as an NCAA dual-sport athlete for hockey and lacrosse at Dartmouth College, an Ivy League Division 1 institution in NH, USA. Josh continued to succeed throughout his college years and beyond with an Ivy League hockey title in 2007 and four Mann Cup championships playing for the Sr. A Lakers in Peterborough.
Since graduating from Dartmouth with his B.A., Josh has played two professional hockey seasons in Germany, 5 seasons in the National Lacrosse League with the Minnesota Swarm and also played for the Peterborough Sr. A Lakers lacrosse team.
As a trainer Josh brings a wealth of knowledge surrounding health and fitness that he has acquired through his work with top professional trainers, coaches and fitness instructors from multiple sporting organizations within North America and Europe. Throughout his athletic career Josh has been faced with a number of career threatening injuries, and has been able to persevere through each with focus and dedication to the sport and to himself. This is the driving force that developed his passion to assist and push fellow athletes and people alike, in rebuilding and retraining their bodies post-injury back to game and life ready condition.
